Institute of Designers in Ireland and Atlantic TIDE Workshop.

Despite Little Darling being off sick, I went to the IDI ‘s Atlantic TIDE zoom workshop. Very interesting & just highlights the importance of meeting like-minded people to normalise curiosity & growth. Also, thank god for baskets of building bits; kept Little Darling happy. Most of the participants were from design services. I was there for Beir Bua Press and the design work I do for the covers. I make the majority of the covers first in paper with oil sticks, charcoal, maybe some ink or acrylic then scan them to make more digital layers for mixed media digital work. Some visual poetry collections and a few collection’s covers are by artists or the poets, but I then incorporate into the cover, so all the cover layout and design decisions lay with me. It’s fun but a heavy load so it was great to talk about it, answer questions and learn from a networking environment from others in design led businesses. One of the design businesses uses lego building to help deconstruct thinking to allow teamwork and new approaches. Love the sound of it. And another business is organising, Gasp! The Business of Digital Storytelling – 30th March 2023. I don’t have a link for it, so keep an eye out closer to the time.

Atlantic TIDE is funded by Creative Ireland and resourced by participating partners. It is a joint initiative of Sligo County CouncilWestern Development Commission, Institute of Designers in Ireland, Innovate LimerickLudgate HubCREW DigitalAn Chroí Digital Hub and FutureCast.
