Design & Crafts Council Ireland and The GET SET Programme

I was delighted to have been offered a place on the Get Set programme. The Design & Crafts Council Ireland is a stellar institute for educating and rising the profiles of designers and makers in Ireland.

These sessions were carried out on Zoom and highlights the need for an emotional connection with your product and the ability to shout about your work.

Meabh Ring (brand and marketing) and Aideen Bodkin (product development) were warm, engaging and fantastic facilitators.

Meabh pointed out that my business, Beir Bua Press, had a black swan and reminded her of Irish folklore of The Children of Lir. Which was so fitting as all of my creative started during lockdown as a way to externalise my creativity, my little family and wanting to give back to a charity, Féileacáin Ireland, that gave me memories that are priceless. And the Children of Lir is essentially about lost children…that was emotional and this group allowed me to make that connection and express it. For that – I will be eternally grateful.
