This conference takes place on May 22 and 23, in Mary Immaculate College. Substitute cover is provided to attending teachers.
The conference also has: workshops on encouraging reading and writing in national school children and it even has some pretty cool authors to talk to the participants. It’s aimed at teachers and pupils.
You and your class can stay in touch with the hashtag #BuzzingwithBooks.

The conference will provide the opportunity for interaction with noted children’s authors and illustrators, as well as teachers and other professionals experienced in the teaching of language and literacy. Attendees will also have the chance to view novel and modern resources and ideas for the implementation of balanced literacy schemes in schools. A high level of interaction and collaboration between children and schools will be a hallmark of the conference.
The conference comes at a time of significant opportunity and change in Irish literary and educational circles. As the success of Irish authors and illustrators continues at home and abroad, and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment prepares for the roll-out of a new language curriculum for Junior Infants to Second Class, co-operation between all partners involved in the promotion of reading gains a new significance.Buzzing with Books will provide the space and time for this co-operation to be strengthened and developed.
