Some poetry advice, examples, and tips aimed at primary school teachers to be used as a resource.
Editing your Poem
There is no great writing, only great rewriting.
– Louis D. Brandeis
How to Edit
1. Leave the poem alone for a day or so.
2. Read the poem aloud.
3. Make sure that the original copy is kept, perhaps write the poem again.
4. Ask yourself :
Do all the words sound good in the poem?
Would another word sound better?
Does this make sense?
Will my reader be able to picture my poem in their head?
5. Change words if you feel they need to be changed and read it aloud again to make sure it reads well.
